Air France-KLM is looking into blockchain with a new partnership deal

One of the largest airlines in the world Air France-KLM and Swiss blockchain travel distribution platform Winding Tree will unite their efforts for developing blockchain technology in the travel industry.

“The aim of this new agreement is to provide, via blockchain technology, a more advantageous travel offer for customers which is more profitable for suppliers, in particular by reducing the number of intermediaries”, the company noted.

Air France-KLM stated that Winding Tree’s B2B platform will help users, and especially companies and startups to benefit from various offers (flights, hotels etc.). They will also be able to offer travel solutions adapted to their customers’ needs.

In its turn Air France-KLM “will support Winding Tree’s technological developments by testing the technology and providing feedback as the development progresses”.

Both companies are looking into innovation

Winding Tree last autumn signed a partnership with two top airlines – Air New Zealand and Lufthansa AG. Earlier this year the Swiss company signed a deal with Swissport, an aviation services company providing airport ground and cargo handling services.

At the same time Air France is implementing its innovation strategy. Together with KLM and Transavia it is using advanced artificial intelligence and machine learning technologies to develop chatbots dedicated to customer service (tracking checked baggage, adding additional baggage, booking assistance, etc.).
